The Summer I Turned Pretty Final Season: Book Ending Reveals Belly Ends Up with Conrad

With the final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty premiering on Prime Video, fans are revisiting the love triangle's conclusion in Jenny Han's bestselling trilogy. The third season, based on Han's 2011 novel We'll Always Have Summer, follows Belly (Lola Tung) as she navigates her relationship with Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno) while still connected to his brother Conrad (Christopher Briney).

In the book, Belly is in a relationship with Jeremiah but discovers he slept with another girl during spring break. After a brief breakup, they reconcile and become engaged. However, at Jeremiah's bachelor party, Conrad reveals he still loves Belly and asks her not to marry his brother. On the wedding day, Jeremiah punches Conrad, realising he will never be Belly's first choice, and the wedding is called off.

Belly then studies abroad in Spain and begins exchanging letters with Conrad. The book ends with a flash-forward: Belly, now 23, is engaged to Conrad, and Jeremiah attends their wedding despite previously vowing never to see his brother again.

Whether the TV series will follow this ending remains uncertain, as showrunner Jenny Han has made significant changes. 'I always knew how I wanted to end the books. But with the show, I went into it with an open mind,' Han told Elite Daily, adding that she aims to 'make it even better and try new things.' The trailer shows Belly and Jeremiah's engagement and a wedding, but the groom's identity is not confirmed.

The first two episodes of Season 3 debut on July 16, with weekly episodes leading to the series finale on September 17.
