The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has released the top 100 baby names for boys and girls born in England and Wales in 2025. The list shows that traditional names continue to dominate, with Oliver and Olivia retaining the top spots for another year.
Top Boys' Names
Oliver remains the most popular name for boys, followed by George and Noah. According to the ONS, Oliver has held the number one position for nine consecutive years. The top 10 also includes Arthur, Leo, Muhammad, Harry, Jack, Charlie, and Oscar.
Top Girls' Names
Olivia is again the most popular name for girls, a title she has held since 2016. Amelia, Isla, Ava, and Mia complete the top five. New entries in the top 100 for girls include Mabel, Margot, and Raya.
Notable Trends
The ONS noted a rise in names inspired by nature, such as Willow, Ivy, and River. Celebrity influences also played a role, with names like Margot (likely influenced by actress Margot Robbie) and Raya (from the Disney film) gaining popularity. The data is based on all live births registered in England and Wales in 2025.
