Police Rescue Turns Out to Be Stunt
Police were forced to intervene when a young man wearing a Lionel Messi shirt was surrounded by England supporters in Piccadilly Circus after England's 2-1 World Cup semi-final defeat to Argentina. The confrontation, which went viral on social media, showed fans chanting and screaming at the supporter before officers bundled him into a police van for his own safety. However, the Standard has revealed that the man is Maciej MP, a TikTok influencer known for 'rage-bait' content.
Influencer Celebrates Viral Moment
Maciej MP, who has 222,000 followers on TikTok, posted videos of the incident on his page, including footage of himself being placed into the police van. He captioned the post: 'Rage bait successful'. The influencer has a history of provocative pranks, including convincing people on Carnaby Street they were eating cat meat and pretending to vomit on the London Underground to get passengers to give up their seats.
Previous Football-Related Provocations
Maciej MP has previously targeted football fans. After Argentina's World Cup quarter-final victory, he was seen 'trolling' Switzerland fans by shouting 'Messi' and making an 'L' sign for loser. Following Tottenham's 4-1 Premier League defeat, he provoked supporters, leading to one fan throwing drinks before police intervened. He also filmed himself celebrating Arsenal's Champions League final loss to Paris Saint Germain in a pub full of Gunners fans. It remains unclear which team he supports, if any.
The Standard has contacted Maciej MP for comment.
