First Look at STACK Wigan Food and Drink Market

Concept images of STACK Wigan, a new leisure development set to open later this year, have been released. The venue will occupy two floors of the former Debenhams store inside the Grand Arcade Shopping Centre.

Six Food Outlets and Five Bars Planned

STACK Wigan will feature six food outlets, five bars, an outdoor terrace, large screens for major sporting events, a stage for live entertainment, a pool table area, and a coffee shop. One food outlet has already been allocated to ZZA Pizzeria, a popular choice at other STACK venues, while the remaining five are available for street food vendors.

Developers have issued a call for diverse street food traders to apply for units. Gemma Dishman, Director of Strategy and Development at STACK, said: “We are delighted to be able to finally give a real flavour of what we are going to offer at STACK Wigan as we know how eagerly awaited it is.” She added that the goal is to have a mix of well-known favourites and unique independent concepts, ensuring variety without too much overlap.

Supporting Local Businesses

STACK is committed to supporting local businesses and entrepreneurs. Existing STACK sites offer cuisine from Italy, Mexico, Greece, Korea, China, and the USA, including bao buns, burgers, Tex Mex, fried chicken, and pulled pork. Dishman emphasized the importance of traders who can deliver consistently in a busy environment and create a vibrant atmosphere.

Mike Matthews, Centre Manager at Grand Arcade Shopping Centre, described the opening as transformational for both the centre and the town. “STACK will add a completely new dimension to the shopping centre, complementing our existing retail offer and creating more reasons for people to spend time in the town centre throughout the day and into the evening,” he said.

Application Deadline

Interested vendors must complete the trader enquiry form by the deadline of 21 July. Previous applicants will also be reviewed. The venue is expected to open later this year, with further announcements to follow.
