Twenty years after the release of the original film, 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' has been officially announced, with Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway returning to the world of high fashion. The sequel is set for release on May 1, 2026, by 20th Century Studios.
The new film will follow Miranda Priestly, played by Streep, as she navigates the decline of print journalism and struggles to keep her magazine relevant. She faces off against Emily Blunt's character, her former assistant who is now a high-powered executive at a luxury group with advertising money that Priestly desperately needs.
Returning cast members include Anne Hathaway as Andrea Sachs, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Tracie Thoms, and Tibor Feldman. New additions to the cast include Kenneth Branagh and Patrick Brammall as love interests for Streep and Hathaway, respectively, along with Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, B.J. Novak, Justin Theroux, Lady Gaga, and Pauline Chalamet. Broadway stars Helen J. Shen and Conrad Ricamora, as well as comedian Caleb Hearon, will also appear. Adrian Grenier, who played Nate in the original, will not return.
David Frankel, director of the 2006 film, and Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote the original screenplay, will return for the sequel. Wendy Finerman will produce, with Michael Bederman, Karen Rosenfelt, and McKenna serving as executive producers.
