Sir Anthony Hopkins, 88, Stuns Fans with Unrecognisable Look While Backing England in World Cup

Sir Anthony Hopkins has left fans baffled after posting a photo celebrating England’s World Cup win, looking utterly unrecognisable. The 88-year-old actor, known for his iconic roles including Hannibal Lecter, appeared much leaner and sported a beard in the image, hugging his wife Stella Arroyave.

The Welsh-born star, who now lives in California, captioned the post: 'We’re all winners… #WorldCup2026'. Fans roasted the Silence of the Lambs legend for being a 'turncoat', with comments such as 'What are you doing????? You are Welsh' and 'Thought you were a proud Welsh man'.

Sir Anthony has been sober for over 50 years after quitting drinking following a drink-driving incident in 1975. He described realising he was 'in big, big trouble' and has since said he has 'more fun' sober 'than ever'.
