West Lothian 50+ Network has celebrated the success of its first ever Summertime Ball, an evening that brought together members, guests, supporters, partner organisations, and local representatives for a night of friendship, music, dancing, and community spirit.
A Milestone for the Charity
The event marked an important milestone for the charity, which supports people aged 50 and over across West Lothian to stay active, connected, and involved in their communities. The first Summertime Ball was made possible thanks to the support of headline partner The Wellbeing Hub.
The charity was also pleased to welcome guests from local organisations including Home Instead West Lothian and Bathgate Thistle Community Football Club, reflecting the positive relationships West Lothian 50+ Network continues to build across the local community.
Elected Representatives Attend
The evening was also attended by elected representatives Councillor Susan Manion, Councillor Tony Boyle, and Kirsteen Sullivan MP, alongside members, volunteers, committee members, local supporters, and invited guests.
Jamie Seery, CEO of West Lothian 50+ Network, said: “Our first Summertime Ball was about much more than a night out. It was about bringing people together for an evening of friendship, music, celebration and community.
“Events like this remind us how important connection is, and it was brilliant to see so many people supporting that spirit. We are especially grateful to our headline partner, The Wellbeing Hub, for their support in helping make the evening possible.
“We were also pleased to welcome guests from Home Instead West Lothian and Bathgate Thistle Community Football Club, as well as Councillor Susan Manion, Councillor Tony Boyle and Kirsteen Sullivan MP.
“As an organisation, we value the positive relationships we have across the political spectrum and with local organisations, and the shared interest in keeping people connected, active and included across West Lothian.”
Raising Awareness and Tackling Isolation
The Summertime Ball was created to give members and guests a joyful social occasion while also raising awareness of the Network’s wider work tackling isolation, improving wellbeing, and creating opportunities for older adults. West Lothian 50+ Network runs a range of local groups, activities, and support services across the area, helping people aged 50 and over build friendships, maintain confidence, share skills, and remain connected to community life.
Jamie added: “Most of all, we want to thank everyone who came along and made the evening such a success. Their support means a great deal and helps us continue the work we do throughout the year.
“The success of the first Summertime Ball shows there is real appetite for positive, welcoming and enjoyable social opportunities for people over 50 across West Lothian.”
Future Events Planned
Following the success of the event, West Lothian 50+ Network hopes to build on the momentum by developing further social, cultural, and community events for members and prospective members. Anyone aged 50 or over who is interested in joining the Network, attending activities, volunteering, or supporting the charity’s work is encouraged to get in touch.
