Wayne Rooney has shown off his appearance transformation after revealing his weight loss, sporting Invisalign braces during an appearance on ITV's This Morning on Thursday. The former footballer joined his wife Coleen to promote their upcoming Disney+ series, The Real Rooneys.
The dental treatment marks the latest phase in Wayne's makeover, following a nose job procedure. He told This Morning he "feels great," attributing his fresh appearance to dedicated gym sessions and lifestyle adjustments, rather than weight loss injections, as speculation has suggested.
Lifestyle change over injections
"I feel great, I haven't drank for a while. I just wanted to feel healthier and be healthier so I've changed my eating habits and training," he explained to Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley. "Everyone's saying I'm on this pen thing. but I'm not, I've been working out to try and look better and be healthier."
Following his career shift, which has seen him abandon football management for punditry, podcasting and television projects, Wayne has prioritised his wellbeing and family commitments. "I've found more balance," he revealed, noting that "it's helped me get back to a much better place."
Family focus and new series
"When I stopped playing, I got in a rut, I was drinking too much and not getting into the routine of training and I just thought, 'You know what I want to enjoy the time with the kids while they're at this age, and with Coleen as well and I actually have been more present, more there for them,'" he elaborated.
Coleen acknowledged "it's made a massive difference." She said: "All my life I've planned everything with Wayne out of it, and if he's there it's a bonus whereas now as a family unit we can plan together. It's just nice to share the load."
Ben Shephard wound Wayne up about recent speculation he's in discussions for this year's series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here. "You're looking fit and healthy so you're ready for the shower shot in your swimming trunks," Ben observed. Grinning, Wayne kept his cards close to his chest, responding "I've been asked all the time... wait and see."
The Real Rooneys on Disney+
Wayne would be following his wife's path after she came second in the 2024 series. Coleen revealed that feeling the "love and support off the public" during her stint on the ITV programme persuaded her to agree to the family reality series, saying "I thought, you know what people do like us."
The pair have offered viewers an exclusive glimpse into their domestic world with sons Kai, 16, Klay, 13, Kit, 10, and Cass, eight, in their new £10million behind-the-scenes programme, The Real Rooneys, which was recorded last year. The Real Rooneys is out now on Disney+.
