Victoria Beckham has returned to her musical roots by joining her son Cruz in the recording studio.
The former Spice Girls star hit the headlines last week when comedian Katherine Ryan apologised for an “offensive” comment she made about her on Have I Got News For You.
Recording Session With Cruz
Victoria put the controversy behind her on Monday as she recorded vocals with 21-year-old Cruz, who performs with his band, The Breakers. Cruz shared a photo of the fashion designer standing before a microphone, appearing to read lyrics from her phone, while Cruz, wearing white-framed sunglasses, smiled at the camera from the corner of the frame.
Posting the photo on Instagram, Cruz made a tongue-in-cheek reference to his mother’s famous nickname ‘Posh Spice’ as he wrote: "Yeah we got posh back in the studio."
His model girlfriend Jackie Apostel commented with several eye emojis while Victoria added a slew of laughing face emojis. Fans went wild over the photo, as one wrote, “Don’t play with us, Cruz!!!” and another added: “We need Posh back!” A third commented, “I JUST SCREAMED!!!!” and someone else quipped: “Cruz out here performing miracles for real.”
BBC Ruling and Apology
The frenzy comes after the BBC upheld a complaint made by two viewers over Katherine Ryan’s joke about Victoria.
During an episode of Have I Got News For You which the comedienne hosted in November, she referred to a 2013 private email sent by David Beckham where he allegedly used the c-word.
Ryan said on the show: “I don’t know that we are allowed to broadcast the c-word, but you did reference Victoria Beckham earlier and we’ll allow that.”
In its ruling, the BBC’s Executive Complaints Unit (ECU) stated: “There was no such justification for a comment which presented Victoria Beckham as equivalent to a particularly offensive word.”
The comment was edited out of the episode on iPlayer.
Following the BBC’s ruling, Ryan did apologise and explained she recorded the episode just ten days after giving birth, with her baby in the building during filming.
She added: “This is gonna be a tough one for the feminists because I was a woman going to work but I did call another woman a c***.
Cruz's Musical Success
Victoria’s time in the recording studio on Monday also comes after a successful musical breakout year for Cruz.
He put out the double singles Optics and Lick The Toad last year before gigging in cities such as London, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow in early 2026. He later toured the US with his band in August, performed at the Reading and Leeds festivals this summer, and launched his debut EP, Wear & Tear, last month.
Meanwhile, the Spice Girls shot to global fame after the release of their debut single Wannabe in 1996, which celebrated its 30th anniversary this year.
The award-winning group also produced hits such as Stop, 2 Become 1, Who Do You Think You Are? and Viva Forever, amassing nine UK number one singles and two chart-topping albums.
Victoria had a brief solo career with her self-titled solo album in 2001 and reunited with the Spice Girls for a reunion tour in 2007 and a performance at the London Summer Olympics in 2012.
She has since focused on her career in the fashion and beauty industries.
