Vicky Pattison shows off gruesome bike injury before charity challenge

Vicky Pattison has revealed a gruesome injury sustained during a bike ride, asking fans if she should be concerned. The former Geordie Shore star, 38, is preparing to cycle, kayak and run from Newcastle to London next week to raise money for Global's Make Some Noise charity, but suffered a setback over the weekend.

Taking to Instagram while still in her cycling gear, Vicky showed a large bleeding scrape along her arm. She teared up slightly as she joked that she "wasn't very brave at first" and confessed she was glad they didn't film her initial reaction.

A fall over the handlebars

The star explained that she had been doing her longest bike ride yet, to prepare for her endurance cycle next week, when a bump in the road sent her flying over the handlebars. Later, she posted from her bed, sharing a selfie of her grimacing as the bandage on her arm came free, revealing the bloodied and raw skin underneath. She wrote alongside the picture: "Should I be worried about this or am I being dramatic?"

Despite the injury, the following day Vicky was back on her bike. She posted that she was feeling a tad worried about cycling again but was heading out with her trainer anyway because it was "the right thing to do". "Was feeling more than a little bit tentative about getting on my bike again today," she wrote. "But my lovely trainer Scott convinced me to go out and it was the right thing to do! Still sore but defo not scared..."

Charity challenge ahead

Vicky is set to cycle, run and kayak from Newcastle to London between 5 and 9 October to raise money for Global's Make Some Noise, a charity initiative set up by the same company that owns Heart Radio. The organisation vows to make sure "no one faces life's toughest challenges alone" by supporting a hundred charities across the UK that deal with a variety of issues, from bereavement to poverty.

Several stars have helped the organisation raise money, including AJ Bell, who ran a half marathon, and Chris Moyles, who did a special podcast. Vicky announced her participation via an Instagram post, saying: "I have signed up for the biggest challenge of my life... and it is just dawning on me now that I may have bitten off more than I can chew. This challenge is about to make the jungles, the Sahara and the arctic... look like a walk in the park.. But it's for an incredible cause and I'm going to give it everything I've got. WISH ME LUCK and Stay tuned..."

She was cheered on by several celebrities in the comments of her video. Fearne McCann wrote: "Wowwwww yes go girl!!" MAFS star Ella Morgan added: "You are a total queen, and inspiration @vickypattison I hope you know how loved you are!! You deserve all the success that comes your way girl and I love and adore you (you know that already!)" And Vicky's husband Ercan Ramadan said: "You've got this".
