The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has released the latest baby name data for England and Wales, based on 2025 birth registrations. Muhammad remains the most popular boys' name for the third consecutive year, while Olivia holds the top spot for girls for the second year running.
Boys' Names: Muhammad Continues Reign, Charlie and Oliver Fall
Muhammad has been in the top 10 since 2016 and now leads for the third year. Oliver dropped from third to sixth place, and Charlie fell from 17th to 22nd, exiting the top 20. New entries include Rupert, Yahya, Caleb, Riley, Enzo, Michael, Austin, Logan, Jaxon, Toby, Milo, Hunter, Ellis, Vincent, Bobby, Elliot, Ralph, Carter, Stanley, Nathan, and Ruben.
Girls' Names: Olivia Top, Lily Rises, Ivy and Ellie Decline
Olivia is the top girls' name for the second year. Lily moved from third to second, swapping places with Amelia, now third. Ivy dropped from fifth to ninth, and Ellie fell out of the top 100 entirely. New entries include Raya, Eloise, Gracie, Emma, Anaya, Lola, Maria, Chloe, Athena, Bella, Darcie, Scarlett, Myla, Alba, Rosa, Marnie, Lara, Lilah, and Frankie.
