The Traitors winners Rachel Duffy and Stephen Libby have admitted they are the “most boring winners ever” after revealing how they have spent their jackpot since winning the hit BBC show.
The pair opened up about life after their dramatic victory when they spoke to us at the National Television Awards, with Rachel admitting things have been both “lovely and unpredictable”.
Life after the win
Asked how life has been since their win, TV star Rachel said she has simply been enjoying the unexpected ride. “It’s been lovely and unpredictable, I’m just riding the wave and having a lot of fun,” she said.
BBC winner Stephen has also been getting used to his new reality, admitting the win has given him the chance to slow down and think about what he actually wants to do next.
“It has been pretty mental, it’s been lovely, and unexpected and I think it’s been nice to have a chance to take your foot off the gas a little bit and think what do I really want to do and explore that a little more,” he explained.
A frugal approach to spending
But while some reality TV winners might immediately splash their cash on luxury holidays, flashy cars or designer goodies, Rachel and Stephen appear to be taking a rather more sensible approach.
In fact, Stephen confessed he has barely touched his winnings. “I’ve been very frugal, I haven’t spent that much...” he admitted.
Rachel, meanwhile, has treated herself, although her spending spree is hardly the stuff of wild celebrity excess.
“I have bought a mattress, and lots of clothes...” she revealed.
Joking about their cautious ways
A new mattress and some fresh outfits might not exactly sound like the ultimate jackpot blowout, but the pair seemed to see the funny side of their cautious approach to their newfound wealth.
Stephen joked that they could have a strong claim to being the least extravagant winners the show has ever produced.
“We are the most boring winners ever. I’ve been saving my pocket money in case I need it one day!” he laughed.
It seems that despite walking away with a life-changing sum, the pair have no intention of going completely wild.
Instead, Rachel is enjoying the freedom that comes with the win, while Stephen is taking his time to work out what the next chapter looks like.
After the twists, betrayals and mind games of The Traitors, it seems the biggest challenge for the winning pair may now be figuring out what on earth to do with their prize money.
