ITV's The Chase left viewers amused on Friday (September 25) when contestant Dharm gave a memorable answer before his team went on to win the prize pot.
The quartet playing for cash was Dharm, Mark, Gwen, and Cami. They faced host Bradley Walsh in the cash builder round before a head-to-head against Shaun Wallace, known as The Dark Destroyer.
Dharm's 'gift horse' gaffe
First into the hot seat was Dharm, a Civil Service accounts manager originally from Bolton but now based in Leeds. He hoped to win enough cash to fund cosmetic surgery, reports Leeds Live.
Asked how he would spend any winnings, the 40-year-old said: "Well, I'll get a new head of hair, right?" prompting Brad to quip: "What's the matter with the one you got?". Dharm replied, "It's running a bit thin," before Brad reassured him, "It looks all right to me, mate." Dharm confirmed he hoped to win between £2k and £3k.
As the one-minute clock started, Brad put the first question: "Complete the saying: You should never look a gift horse in the what?". "Eye," Dharm stated, as Bradley confirmed the correct answer was "Mouth."
Team secures £17,000 pot
Despite the opening gaffe, Dharm secured £4,000 in the cash builder before facing Shaun and clinching his spot in the final. Cami brought back £6,000, pushing the fund to £10,000. Gwen added £3,000, and Mark returned with £4,000, taking the total to £17,000.
In the final showdown, the four contestants faced The Dark Destroyer. Their tally of 20 questions proved enough to defeat The Chaser and secure their share of the prize money.
