Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have donated $26 million (£19.4 million) to 20 charities ahead of their wedding, which is set to take place at Madison Square Garden on Friday night. A representative for the pop star confirmed the significant donation, which spans nine food banks, an animal cruelty organization, seven educational programs, and three children's hospitals.
Charities Benefiting from the Donation
The announcement stated: “This week, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift donated 26 million dollars to charities across the United States. They include the following…” Recipients include City Harvest, Food Bank For NYC, New York Cares, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Harvesters – The Community Food Network, The Store, Helping Harvest, Rhode Island Community Food Bank, Feeding America, and the ASPCA. Educational programs such as Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, Grammy In The Schools, Education Through Music, Answer The Call, Musical Mentors, and After-School All-Stars in New York and Cleveland also received funds. Additionally, MSK Kids, Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital, and Children’s Mercy Hospital were among the children's hospitals supported.
Specific Donations Acknowledged
While individual donation amounts were not disclosed, City Harvest in New York confirmed it received a “generous one million dollars donation” from the couple. The Rhode Island Community Food Bank expressed being “incredibly grateful for their extraordinarily generous and unexpected gift.”
Celebrity Guests and Preparations
Presenter Graham Norton and actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge were spotted arriving in New York City ahead of the event. Norton appeared in Swift’s music video for “Opalite” earlier this year and has been asked about his invitation to the wedding. Waller-Bridge, who attended Swift’s Eras Tour in London and hosted Saturday Night Live when Swift was musical guest, has also reportedly been invited to the singer’s parties.
Workers have been seen lifting large props into Madison Square Garden, including a grand piano, tree branches, and a large carpet. A box marked “40 mirrorball” was pictured in a lorry, and food deliveries, including one labeled “garden party,” have been observed. A forklift operator was spotted wearing a Swift T-shirt while working at the venue.
Security and Local Government Response
An unnamed law enforcement official briefed on security plans confirmed the wedding to the Associated Press, noting preparations for an influx of Swift’s fans, known as Swifties. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said at a press conference: “We are fully prepared, there isn’t anything to share beyond that.” New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch added: “I would be remiss not to mention an event that we are tracking at Madison Square Garden on Friday night. The NYPD will, of course, have a detail in place, but I am not going to go into more specifics on that at this time.”
Engagement Announcement
Swift announced her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce in August via a joint Instagram post that read: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
