Strictly fans unimpressed by Sarah Storey routine issue

Strictly Come Dancing fans were left unimpressed as they made the same observation after Dame Sarah Storey's latest performance live in the famous ballroom.

The Manchester-born athlete, who is Britain's most successful Paralympian with 30 Paralympic medals, including 19 golds, signed up to the BBC One dance contest this year and was seen being partnered with professional dancer Julian Caillon during last month's series launch.

Week four routines and Icons Week

The pair have since made it through to week four of Strictly's 2026 series, which took place on Saturday night (October 17) and saw the stars channel the likes of Sir Elton John, Adele and Frank Sinatra in a series of themed dances paying tribute to some of their favourite artists as the new annual Icons Week returned.

As the latest live show got underway, the judges were seen getting involved in the icons week festivities, as Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke channelled Britpop band, and Greater Manchester's own, Oasis as they sported khaki parkas and bowl cuts to resemble the Gallagher brothers.

Meanwhile, Shirley Ballas dressed as Lady Gaga, wearing a blonde wig with a telephone on top, and Motsi Mabuse wore a yellow hoodie and denim shorts as Beyoncé.

The celebrities were then introduced as their "icon" alter egos, with EastEnders actress Lacey Turner appearing as Adele, while TV presenter Will Best looked like Sir Elton John. For Dame Sarah, she transformed into Shania Twain and danced the tango with pro Julian to That Don't Impress Me Much.

Score and judge feedback

Despite being praised for their "attitude, character and dramatics", the couple scored 21, which left them at the bottom of the latest leaderboard, and Craig said: "When you went into your solo bits, you lost expression in the body itself. You dropped the ball a little bit."

But Sarah's latest comments left fans flocking to social media with support as they felt the judges have been unfairly 'hard' on the Paralympic champion, and also pointed out what they thought was the real trouble with her and Julian's latest routine.

Fan reactions on social media

@holdontoyou13 said: "Sarah and Julian are the sweetest, I really adore them and I know it wasn't the best dance but I still enjoyed it and she is growing so much #Strictly."

@A_ANGELS05 commented: "I'm sorry but I'm calling sabotage. How are you going to give Sarah a Tango and give her a poppy song to dance to? I feel like this theme did them a disservice. Massively. @BBC #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing."

@hannahpryde8 shared: "They over mark everyone else and are quite harsh with her. I'm not saying it was amazing but it was her best dance."

@lucymaygoodwin posted: "Stop under-marking Sarah please and thank you."

@romyzeze complained: "The music choice definitely don't impress me much! Shania Twain and tango just doesn't work. The producers seem determined to give Dame Sarah the wrong music choices and every week so far she has had an early slot, another distinct disadvantage."

@rhiannonwls added: "Judges are quite harsh on her!"
