Express readers have dealt a devastating blow to Strictly Come Dancing, voting overwhelmingly for the BBC dance competition to be axed. In a poll of 7,668 voters, 55% said the show should be cancelled, while 41% voted against and 4% said they didn't know.
Major changes to the 2026 series
The 2026 series has seen significant upheaval, with presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman quitting their roles last year. They were replaced by three new hosts, while professional dancers including Luba Mushtuk and Nadiya Bychkova were axed from the programme.
Johannes Radebe also left his professional dancer role to take up a presenting job, and changes were made to spin-off show It Takes Two.
Social media reaction
The consensus on social media has been similar, with many arguing that a shake-up is needed to keep the programme going. One X user tweeted: "Unless the BBC fix this then Strictly will end up being cancelled due to viewership. What possessed them to bring in Josh and Johannes is beyond a lot of fans."
Another said: "Josh Widdicombe is on a one-man mission to get Strictly cancelled." A third agreed: "The #Strictly producers will be in a bit of a pickle now. The overwhelming view seems to be that Emma is perfect and should host downstairs alone, and Josh should be moved upstairs as he's way more of a comedic, lighthearted chat sort of host. But where does that leave Johannes?"
Somebody else echoed: "Josh Widdecombe's been getting all the heat but I think it's actually Johannes who's the weak link."
