This City is Ours star James Nelson-Joyce has confirmed the Scouse lad autumn clothing trend, revealing that M&S quarter zips are always sold out in Liverpool. The 37-year-old actor, who became the official menswear ambassador for M&S Autograph last year, said he has to drive to Warrington to get his hands on the item.
Podcast appearance
Appearing on the "Josh Smith's Great Chat Show" podcast, Nelson-Joyce discussed his collaboration with the fashion brand. Host Josh Smith noted: "We're in that age now where we are M&S obsessed. Every single person that I come across [is wearing M&S] and you're the face of M&S Autograph."
The actor said: "All my mates are like 'M&S give us your discount' but I can't." He explained that one particular M&S item is hugely popular among Scousers, but he cannot find it in his home city.
Quarter zip shortage
Asked about his favourite item, the actor, who was wearing a navy blue quarter zip, said: "I love the quarter zips. You go to the one in Liverpool, they're sold out. So I have to drive all the way to Warrington to pick up the t-shirts and the quarter zips."
He added: "No I'm not lying, you can't get them for love nor money. Bit of a name drop but Wayne Rooney shops there and Jack Grealish."
M&S response
In the comments, Mitch Hughes, director of menswear at M&S, said: "The team are sending more to Liverpool as we speak."
