Royal VE Day Photo of Kate and Kids Up for Award

A photograph capturing the Princess of Wales alongside her children as they observed a VE Day flypast from the balcony of Buckingham Palace has been shortlisted for a public vote award.

Shortlisted for Public Vote

The image is one of 21 selected by a panel of judges for the annual UK Picture Editors Guild Awards, where the public can vote for the photograph of the year. It depicts Kate, Prince George, Prince Louis, and Princess Charlotte leaning to one side to gain a better view of the Red Arrows flypast, which concluded a military procession marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day on May 5 last year.

Other Notable Shortlisted Images

Another photograph from the same day shows the King chatting with 101-year-old Second World War veteran Ruth Barnwell at a tea party in Buckingham Palace following the VE Day procession. Additionally, a photo of the Princess Royal encountering two sleeping farmers while touring cattle stalls at the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh made the shortlist.
