The Royal Nawaab restaurant inside the Stockport Pyramid will be the focus of a new documentary series following the success of a one-off TV show earlier this year. The restaurant has announced it will extend the backstage look with a new YouTube series called Inside Royal Nawaab.
Restaurant's history and scale
The Royal Nawaab opened inside the Stockport Pyramid last April following a major £15m renovation of the former Co-operative Bank headquarters, which was originally constructed in the late 1980s. The landmark, situated by the M60, now features a 350-seat buffet restaurant as well as private VIP rooms and a large banquet hall for 700 people. It has been reported it serves up to 10,000 diners a week.
Led by owner Mahboob Hussain, the building was at the centre of a Channel 4 documentary earlier this year, titled World's Best Curry Restaurant. The episode featured a behind-the-scenes look at the entire operation, including the kitchen brigade, the events team and the marketing staff.
New series details
The new YouTube series will feature Mr Mahboob as well as some of the staff members from the first TV show, like chef Honey and wedding manager Saj. It has not yet been announced when the show will air, but episodes will be available on a weekly basis with organisers promising they will be 'opening our doors like never before'.
A spokesperson said: “Inside Royal Nawaab is a brand new weekly YouTube show, and it's not just how we run the business, it's the hard work, the emotion and the relationships that actually make this place what it is. We're pushing the boundaries again, giving people the most unfiltered look we've ever given anyone into what goes on behind the brand.
