Wales legend Rob Howley turned up at his former club Bridgend to help coach the next generation of scrum-halves.
The former Wales and Lions half-back helped out some of the club's younger nines as part of the Ravens' rugby pathway programme, coaching a scrum-half from the club's U11, U15 and College age-grades.
The U15s scrum-half was Regan Webb, the son of another Wales and Lions international - Rhys Webb.
Young talent and recent honours
Earlier this year, Regan played his part in Brynteg Comprehensive School's victory in the Welsh Rugby Union's Boys Year 10 final at Rodney Parade, while he was also player of the tournament during their victory in the Urdd 7s. Webb had also picked up the District Cup and the Ospreys Cup this year.
Alongside Webb was U11s scrum-half Max and Bridgend College's Will Kerslake, with a video on Bridgend's Instagram showing the work Howley did with the young half-backs.
Club statement and Howley's coaching career
"Rugby in Bridgend continues to go from strength to strength following the launch of our Bridgend Rugby Pathway programme in 2023," read the club's post on social media. "This week, scrum halves from our senior squad, District U11, U15, Bridgend College and former Wales and British Lions scrum-half Rob Howley came together for a joint training session at the Electric Brewery Field, sharing ideas, learning from one another and passing on their knowledge and experience. This session brought generations of Bridgend rugby together, continuing our commitment to build the next generation of Bridgend Ravens."
Howley has enjoyed two spells as an assistant coach with Wales. After a lengthy first spell under Warren Gatland, which brought multiple Six Nations titles - including a title in 2013 when Howley was in interim charge of the side - he returned to the job in 2024. However, he left the following year after Gatland's departure - eventually taking up a role outside of rugby.
Pathway head's comments
Speaking about getting Howley involved with helping with young scrum-halves, Bridgend's head of pathway, Paul Watkin, said: "Today joining us toady at the Brewery Field are past, present and future scrum-halves of the club. They're just having conversations, chucking the ball around. Even young Max is having one-on-one coaching with a former Bridgend, Wales and Lions scrum-half, Rob Howley. It's just great that everyone is connecting together and working together to be better. It's just got a real family feel about it."
