Ricky Hatton reportedly left a £30 million fortune when he died last year, but his son Campbell says the family has been left "completely in the dark" over the estate.
£30m fortune and business empire
According to reports, Hatton's business ventures amassed more than £20 million, with property investments valued at £10 million. At the time of his death, he had 20 businesses listed with Companies House, all of which had filed their latest accounts.
One business, DHT Finance Limited, is valued at over £18 million, while CWR 2021 is worth almost £2.5 million. Hatton is also believed to have had a "significant stake" in a Leicester development dating back to 2017, worth around £30 million. However, some companies had large deficits.
Family left without answers
Since his death at age 46, the extent of his finances has been surrounded by secrecy. Hatton did not leave a will, and although trustees were appointed, his family—including son Campbell, 25, and daughters Millie, 14, and Fearne, 13—have been left in the dark.
Campbell told The Sun: "My family is still completely in the dark. We've had no involvement in my dad's finances for over 15 years."
A source added: "Campbell and his family are still waiting for answers on his estate. Let's hope the trustees will shed some light on the matter sooner rather than later."
Property sale and inquest
His home, where he died, was sold this year for £1.5 million after being reduced from an initial asking price of £1.85 million. The five-bedroom, six-bathroom house was described as a "landmark modern residence offering luxury, space and unrivalled lifestyle features."
At the inquest in March, a coroner concluded the cause of death was hanging but said it was not clear Hatton had intended to take his own life. Earlier this year, Campbell said he had read about his dad's fortune in the media but had no clue what he had left behind. He said: "I grew up in a council house with my mum and I've not had these millions since. That's part of... I've listed all my reasons for getting back in the ring, but that's a big part of it as well. I need to think about my future as well as my family's."
