WWE icon Ric Flair, 77, has insisted he is "still on the way" to a Dynasty Sports event in Philadelphia, days after revealing he had a "blood clot" in his leg. In a thirty-second clip posted to X from a restaurant, the 'Nature Boy' addressed fans directly and dismissed speculation that he would not attend.
Flair confirms Philadelphia appearance
Appearing with a bandage on his face, Flair said: "Hey it's the nature boy Ric Flair. The word is out that I might not be at Philadelphia? Well that is totally incorrect – we're on our way now."
He added: "A little blot clot is not going to keep me from going to Philly, the home of Charles Barkley. Now the home of Lebron James. Dynasty Sports, the Nature Boy will be there at 4 o'clock, live and in colour." Flair then signed off with his trademark woo, albeit a rather hoarse one.
Fans voice health concerns
Underneath the post, fans were quick to voice their opinion on his health, with many saying "you need to be careful". One wrote: "You need to retire, stop traveling, and take it easy and enjoy whatever life you've got left, so dumb to keep pushing."
Another chimed: "Saying this as someone who barely survived a severe DVT and pulmonary embolism. DON'T get on that plane, Ric." Some people instead urged Ric on like he was an old warhorse. "Sending massive love your way Naitch!!! You look great! Keep styling and profiling!!!" While someone else said: "Brother you're amazing! You got that Philly Spirit! WOOO!"
Missed Las Vegas banquet
The announcement comes after Ric missed an event earlier this week at the Cauliflower Alley Club in Las Vegas. Ric was set to attend the August 26 banquet and receive the Iron Mike Mazurki Award, but Jerry "The King" Lawler and Jimmy Hart accepted on his behalf.
In a video message played at the event, Ric said: "I have a blood clot in my leg, so I can't travel the five or six-hour trips that it takes to get there, and I turn it around and run right to Philadelphia. But I want to thank you all for coming out tonight, honouring me. I'm so honoured, so privileged… I'm doing great. I feel great. I hope to stay like this for a while."
