Return to Paradise Season 3 Filming Wraps, Star Confirms

The Death in Paradise spin-off Return to Paradise is gearing up for an eagerly awaited return, with star Anna Samson confirming that production on the third season has officially concluded.

Anna Samson Shares Behind-the-Scenes Update

Anna Samson, who plays Detective Sergeant Mackenzie Clarke in the series, took to Instagram to announce the news. She shared a collection of behind-the-scenes photos with her co-stars, captioning the post: 'Shooting on Return to Paradise season 3 wrapped last week! This season's story is bigger and braver, and asks more of its characters than ever.'

She added: 'A huge congratulations to the entire team for the work that went into it. I adore each and every one of ya. We can't wait to share it with you...sometime down the line.' In a playful tone, she noted: 'I barely took any photos because there were so many murders and waistcoats to be getting on with...and I was constantly misplacing my phone.'

Fan Reactions and Critical Acclaim

Fans quickly expressed their excitement in the comments. One wrote: 'Amazing News!!! Really excited to see what happened next!' Another commented: 'Amazing news, congratulations!!! Can't wait to see the masterpiece of season 3! Great photos of you all!' A third fan suggested: 'Wish they'd do a crossover with either Beyond Paradise or Death in Paradise.'

The second series of Return to Paradise received high praise, with one IMDb user calling it 'better than Death in Paradise' and lauding Anna Samson as 'most impressive as the tenacious detective on loan from the British police.' Other viewers awarded the series ten out of ten, describing it as 'unexpectedly excellent' and 'full of charm.'

What to Expect in Season Three

Earlier this year, the BBC released details about the upcoming third season. The storyline suggests that Mackenzie will continue dealing with the aftermath of season two's dramatic finale. Despite her resolve to leave her past behind, she finds herself struggling.

The synopsis reads: 'DS Mackenzie Clarke is back, fresh from having wrecked another of Glenn's (Tai Hara) weddings and determined never to follow her heart again. But ignoring her heart won't be easy. The arrival of her force-of-nature mother Jillian (Kerry Armstrong) puts Mack's mettle to the ultimate test and there's something undeniable about the raffish charm of the new pathologist Leo (Jacob Collins-Levy). And as for Glenn, who has gone away to 'find himself', well that's a whole other puzzle for Mack to try and solve.'

Seasons one and two of Return to Paradise are currently available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
