Prince William paid an emotional tribute to Sir David Attenborough on his 100th birthday, describing the legendary naturalist as an inspiration to himself and his children. A Century of Service
William remarked: 'It is a rare privilege to celebrate a century of life. But it is rarer still when that person has transformed the way we see the only home that we have - Planet Earth.' He highlighted how Attenborough's voice has guided audiences through rainforests, oceans, and mountains, opening eyes to the planet's beauty and fragility.
The prince also noted Attenborough's role in inspiring his own Earthshot Prize, a global initiative to promote environmental solutions. 'For me personally, your friendship has been profound. You have strengthened my own determination to act,' William said.
A Personal Connection
In September 2020, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis met Sir David at Kensington Palace, where they filmed a Q&A session. George asked which animal would become extinct next, Charlotte expressed her love for spiders, and Louis inquired about his favorite animal. Attenborough's answers were characteristically thoughtful: 'hopefully none,' 'I love spiders,' and 'monkeys.'
William emphasized that Attenborough's legacy extends beyond films and knowledge. 'It is the generations you have inspired.
