Prince William's 3-word film confession reveals his true passion

Prince William has revealed what he truly enjoys away from royal duties with a three-word confession: "I love it." The Prince of Wales made the remark during a conversation about his passion for films, admitting he could happily spend hours discussing them.

Away from formal engagements, William is an enthusiastic cinema fan with a taste for darker stories and complex characters. Among the films that have made the biggest impression on him is Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight.

Relaxed Chat with Thomas Duke

His enthusiasm emerged during a relaxed chat with Thomas Duke, the British influencer and interviewer behind the social media channel Stepping Through Film. The pair sat down in a cinema to discuss William's viewing tastes.

The conversation offered another informal look at the future king, following his appearances on Travis and Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast and Reach PLC's Claret and Blue Aston Villa podcast.

Asked about his relationship with cinema, Prince William made clear that finding time to watch films was the challenge, rather than a lack of interest.

He said: "I love my film. I'm obsessed. I mean, frankly, we could talk for hours about film. I love it, but it's trying to find enough time in the day to watch a film, that's the problem."

He added: "What I love is that when you've watched a really good film, that feeling of watching it the first time, you never get that again with that same film. Each film I find is very different to how you had that first experience."

Praise for Christopher Nolan

Christopher Nolan was the first director they discussed, with William saying he "absolutely loved" the filmmaker's work and praising Oppenheimer, which he said he had watched last summer.

He remarked: "I thought it was fantastic. I love the way his characters kind of brew a bit, and he has always a slight, darker edge to his characters, which I really like.

"I think sometimes some of the films can be a bit too frivolous or a bit too sort of shallow. And like the way Christopher goes into more depth and more darkness in all his films."

Tom then asked about the first Christopher Nolan film William had seen, prompting the prince to name one that had stayed with him. He revealed: "The one that left the most impression on me early on was Batman: The Dark Knight. I absolutely loved that. For me, I thought he completely revolutionized the Batman franchise for another generation.

"I liked the dark edginess of it, and I thought, Heath Ledger, sadly, [had] an incredible performance as the Joker. Just the whole undertones of the film were fantastic.

"It brought enough of the action, it brought the sort of intensity, it brought the complete believable world that is Gotham City back to life, which I thought was fantastic."
