In one of the most unexpected feuds of 2026, Peppa Pig has hit back at Charli XCX after the singer made sweary comments directed at the beloved cartoon character. The Chains of Love singer, 33, said she would 'f*** up' Peppa Pig following remarks the character made in a Pitchfork review, where Peppa dismissed American singer-songwriter Clairo, 27, with the phrase 'I don’t know her.' This was widely seen as a subtle shade reminiscent of Mariah Carey's past comments about Jennifer Lopez.
Charli XCX Defends Clairo
Charli XCX quickly jumped to Clairo's defense, texting her: 'Let's f*** her up.' Clairo, whose real name is Claire Elizabeth Cottrill, shared the exchange on social media, prompting fans to pile on the cartoon character with savage responses, including images of bacon. However, Clairo eventually called for restraint, posting: 'Ok that’s enoughhhhh lolllllllllll.'
Peppa Pig Responds
Peppa Pig responded by dismissing the 'beef' as 'playground drama.' The character told Metro: 'Peppa’s not one to comment on playground drama, although she has been spotted humming a few new tunes lately…' Despite the controversy, Peppa admitted aspirations to become the 'Notorious P.I.G.' and take the music industry by storm, but for now, she is content admiring artists like Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, and Beyonce.
PinkPantheress Joins the Fray
PinkPantheress, whom Peppa had also praised, rejected the comments, stating: 'Ain’t s**t sweet until you put respect on Clairo.' Fans joked that the attention might prompt Clairo to release new music, but she admitted she 'didn’t have anything yet.' Her last album, Charm, was released in 2024, and she wrapped up the supporting tour last year. Clairo first rose to fame in 2017 with her track Pretty Girl and has since released three albums, including the Grammy-nominated Charm.
Peppa Pig's Continued Success
Meanwhile, Peppa Pig remains a dominant force in children's television. The character, who debuted in 2004, continues to entertain young audiences alongside her family, including new baby pig Evie. The ninth season began broadcasting on May 3, 2026, with storylines becoming more poignant. Notably, Peppa's brother George was diagnosed as moderately deaf earlier this year. In an online episode, George and Peppa underwent hearing tests with the help of an audiologist played by Gladiators star Jodie Ounsley. The audiologist instructed: 'Every time that you hear a bleep, I would like you to put a block in the bucket.' While both pigs passed the first round, George stopped placing blocks as the beeps grew quieter, while Peppa continued.
