Pedro Pascal caused a stir at the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles when his on-stage joke about Kieran Culkin was censored by the Fox broadcast. The Last of Us actor, who appeared with his arm in a sling, told the audience: "Everyone's been asking about my arm, but it's actually my shoulder. And I think it's time to let everyone know that Kieran Culkin beat the shit out of me."
Although Pascal followed the remark with a laugh to indicate he was joking, cameras captured Culkin looking less than amused. The moment quickly went viral, with clips shared by Rolling Stone and fans on social media. One fan wrote on X: "We need a buddy comedy ASAP!" while another commented: "Kieran looks delighted about this."
Pascal had previously explained the real cause of his injury to the Associated Press at the Golden Globes, saying: "I fell. Be careful. Exactly. It can happen to anyone." The joke referenced Culkin's recent win for Best Male Actor in a Drama Series at the Golden Globes for his role in Succession, a category in which Pascal was also nominated for The Last of Us.
The incident adds to the buzz of awards season, which includes the Golden Globes, Critics' Choice Awards, and upcoming Oscar nominations. Pascal's playful jab has left fans hoping for more comedic interactions between the two actors.
