Operation Christmas Eve, a magical festive event, is set to open at the Life Science Centre in Newcastle later this year, offering families an early chance to embrace the holiday spirit. The event, which builds on the popularity of the centre's previous Santa Experience, will run from November 21, 2026.
What to Expect at Operation Christmas Eve
Visitors can join Santa's little helpers in a new corner of the North Pole, where busy elves race against the clock to prepare for Christmas Eve. Families will enjoy surprises and live festive science experiments in the new elf show. Children will meet Santa, receive a gift, and take home a Christmas Eve bag.
Tickets, priced at £25, include full access to the science centre, featuring The Great Dinosaur Escape and the award-winning full-dome show What Santa Sees in the Planetarium, which follows Santa and his reindeer across the night sky on Christmas Eve.
Newcastle's Festive Plans Amid Summer Heat
Despite the warm weather, the Life Science Centre invites families to 'stay cool' by planning ahead for Christmas. The announcement comes as Newcastle prepares for a major World Cup semi-final against Argentina, with a fan zone in Times Square featuring a new 9-metre-wide TV screen, extra bars, and extended space.
Simon Duke, What's On Editor for ChronicleLive, noted that while Christmas may not be top of mind in July, the event offers a brilliant opportunity for families to secure their festive plans early.
