Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is married to Helene Spilling, a professional dancer who has won multiple championships in their home nation of Norway. Spilling, 30, married the Gunners star in 2024.
Odegaard's Resurgence
Odegaard has been instrumental in Arsenal's strong start to the season. The midfielder struck the winner against Napoli in the Champions League last week, his third goal in four games, having also scored in the Community Shield in pre-season.
Last season was a struggle for the Arsenal captain, who despite lifting the Premier League title with the North London giants, battled knee and shoulder injuries. He now looks back in the form that made him indispensable to the Gunners.
Spilling's Dance Career
After a hiatus from doing what she loves, Spilling recently took to Instagram to reveal she was dancing again after three years. She captioned a post of her practising dance: "Went to my first dance class at.. well.. 3 years or what? Fun to swing the body a bit again."
Born on April 17, 1996, in Gjerdrum, she dedicated herself to ballroom dancing from a young age. Her prowess on the floor ultimately made her a 17-time Norwegian champion, and she has represented her country in European and world tournaments.
She found fame by joining the cast of "Skal vi danse?" Norway's version of "Dancing With the Stars." Spilling was a breakout star of the show and captured the Mirrorball Trophy in the second season.
Business Ventures and Relationship
Spilling is also the founder and owner of The Zone Dance Studio in Oslo and a brand ambassador for Thune, a leading jewellery brand in her home country. For years, she performed with dance superstar Jonas Pettersen, and in 2017, she relocated to Lithuania to train with Dominykas Granskas, with whom she competed internationally.
After two years in Lithuania, she returned to Norway and, some time later, struck up a relationship with Odegaard. Neither has shared exactly when they met or how their relationship began, but they made their first public appearance together at the London Football Awards in March 2023.
Just months after celebrating their wedding, the couple welcomed their first child, a son named Matheo, in December 2024. When announcing the birth on Instagram, Spilling wrote: "We love you so much, our little baby boy."
Spilling has also been spotted attending Arsenal and Norway games, supporting her husband, and the low-key couple reportedly moved into their dream English home in December 2024. According to Se og Hor, the mansion cost around £7.7 million. It is said to be located 30km north west of London in Hertfordshire, only half an hour away from Arsenal's London Colney training centre.
