Nadiya Bychkova Returns to It Takes Two, Delighting Strictly Fans

Strictly Come Dancing fans were delighted as former pro dancer Nadiya Bychkova made a surprise return to the BBC dancing competition's spin-off series It Takes Two on Friday night (October 2), following her shock exit from the main show.

Returning for its 2026 series last month, it has been a period of change for the programme. Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe are the show's new presenters after Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman left. Pro dancers Karen Hauer, Nadiya Bychkova, Luba Mushtuk, Michelle Tsiakkas and Gorka Marquez all left the series, with new pros Aleksandra Isaeva, Cristian Priori, Lethabo Monametsi, Maddie Ingoldsby and Mark Karmalita making their debuts.

Nadiya's Exit and Career

Nadiya's exit was one which upset fans the most, with her joining the pro line-up back in 2017, where she was initially seen competing with EastEnders actor Davood Ghadami. The Ukrainian dancer went on to be paired with a number of celebrity partners over the years, including Blue singer Lee Ryan, former footballer David James, swimmer Tom Dean, presenter Dan Walker, and last year, rugby star Chris Robshaw.

It was in March when Nadiya confirmed that she wouldn't be returning, saying on Instagram: "After 9 wonderful years, this part of my journey with Strictly Come Dancing is evolving. There is something truly special about being part of a programme that plays such a big part in so many people's lives and I want to thank all those who have sent beautiful messages over the last few weeks and those who have voted, shouted, supported, celebrated and cheered during every series."

She added: "I also want to take a moment to appreciate all those who have helped me along the way: my partners, my fellow professionals, the judges and brilliant people behind the scenes."

Surprise Appearance on It Takes Two

On Friday night, Nadiya appeared on It Takes Two, which airs from Monday to Friday each week. Ted Lasso actress Ellie Taylor recently replaced Janette Manrara and Fleur East as its host. Appearing alongside former Strictly contestants Jay McGuinness and Kimberley Walsh, Nadiya was tasked with having her say on how the 15 members of the Strictly class of 2026 are faring to date.

With Movie Week airing on Saturday (October 3), Nadiya said: "I think on Friday, it's very important to get there and make sure they get comfortable - as comfortable as you can get on Friday in that ballroom. Make sure the steps are in, the understanding of the routine is there, and slowly getting into the spirit of movie week. So then tomorrow, once it is Movie Week, and when it's the main importance they'll be able to just enjoy and be in the moment."

Praising Dani Dyer, she stated: "The lines she's doing... It's week two, and to be able to do it so beautifully - controlled, with all the stretches, the position is there, the neck and the head is where it should be, all the lines are so beautiful and graceful. I can't wait to see it once everything is done."

Fan Reactions

Those watching the episode rushed to X, previously known as Twitter, to express their joy at seeing Nadiya back on their screens once again. @MCJPeel said: "So nice to see Nadiya Byckova back on #ItTakesTwo and still part of the #Strictly family. She was always full of kindness as a pro and hope to see more of her in the future, either as a permanent fixture on It Takes Two or maybe even a future contestant on #CelebrityTraitors."
