Casey King, star of TLC's reality show My 3000lb Family, is unrecognisable after shedding more than half his body weight and undergoing surgery. The reality star, who weighed over 700 pounds at the time of filming, was so obese that he had to bathe in an outdoor trough. He has since lost nearly 600 pounds.
Struggles before transformation
During filming, Casey explained the difficulty of his daily routine: "Because I'm a bigger guy with, like, folds and flaps, I have to move around almost like a pig in a way, wallow, and roll over to get the back of my legs. I have to lift up literal pieces of skin. It's just a seriously difficult process."
He also revealed that, after struggling to find clothes that fit, he preferred to sit around naked, eating and playing video games. At the time, the then-34-year-old confessed: "I'll just eat until I'm dead, probably." He added: "I never thought that at 34 I'd be living with my father and I'd have no job, have no real money and just be playing video games all day and eating."
Weight loss and surgery
Casey has since undergone bariatric surgery to remove part of his stomach, along with adopting an intense diet and fitness regime. His Instagram bio currently states he weighs 245 pounds, just 20 pounds away from his goal of 225 pounds.
In recent weeks, he also had skin removal surgery to take away 20 pounds of excess tissue from his abdomen, arms, and lower back. In a recent video, he reassured fans: "I feel good. Everything looks good."
Reflecting on his journey
In December 2024, Casey shared: "I'm happier than I ever have been and I've felt more growth as a person than most do in a few years. I'm surrounded by love and have some sort of a path ahead of me (that still needs to be figured out somewhat)." He added: "I really don't know how I made it this far, I really thought at one time I'd be dead before 40, and now at 40 I'm in close to the best health of my life….. kinda #weird tbh."
Photos show Casey in a crisp white shirt and red tie posing with friends, and later in shorts and a tennis polo shirt for exercise. Writing in January 2023, he said: "Been a good 2022 and I hope to have a better 2023. Many resolutions and many plans for the future. These pictures represent the good and the bad moments of the year. It's been a ride for sure, I'm glad I'm here to experience it all and have the opportunity to continue making memories with my friends and family."
