Manchester United academy prospect JJ Gabriel has agreed to relocate to Spain should he be permitted to depart the club, according to reports. The 15-year-old sent shockwaves through Old Trafford last week by requesting deregistration, and is now reportedly determined to secure a fresh destination.
Gabriel's potential destinations revealed
Spanish outlet Sport has revealed that Gabriel's shortlist of prospective destinations now includes four clubs, two of which are based in Spain. Real Madrid and Barcelona are amongst those reportedly eager to secure Gabriel's signature, along with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
It is understood that Gabriel has brought in agent Ali Barat to represent him as his efforts to leave United intensify. The intermediary's influence could prove crucial to his future, having reportedly established connections with both Real Madrid and Bayern.
United's stance on the situation
Despite his request to be deregistered, Gabriel remains on United's books for the rest of the season and cannot be deregistered. United believe the situation can still be resolved, notwithstanding Gabriel's unexpected desire to move on.
The youngster is just a fortnight away from being eligible to sign a scholarship with United when he turns 16 on October 6, and will need to wait until his 17th birthday before signing a professional contract.
Sesko issues recovery statement
United striker Benjamin Sesko has insisted he is working hard to return to the pitch following a setback with his persistent shin problem. The 23-year-old was absent from United's draw with Fulham at the weekend and has since withdrawn from the Slovenia squad.
"I am very sorry that I will have to miss the national team's upcoming matches," Sesko wrote on Tuesday in a statement on Instagram. "I have always played for Slovenia - and always will - with heart and pride. Right now, the most important thing is to focus fully on my recovery. I am already working on getting back on the pitch as soon as possible to help both the national team and my club once again."
However, Slovenia and United have already been involved in feisty club-vs-country rows over Sesko and his confirmation is likely to cause more controversy and outrage in his homeland.
