Leigh-Anne Pinnock has revealed she felt "betrayed" by her footballer husband Andre Gray after he decided to continue his career abroad. The Little Mix star, who will appear on the new series of Celebrity Traitors on BBC One, spoke about the difficult period in their relationship during an appearance on Paloma Faith's Mad Sad Bad podcast in January.
Pinnock opens up about 'weird time' with Gray
The 34-year-old singer said she went through "a bit of a weird time" with the ex-Brentford striker, who had been released by Watford before moving to Greece to play for Aris Thessaloniki. Pinnock explained that Gray's decision left her feeling hurt and untrusting.
"I went through a bit of a weird time with my husband actually and I think that sort of not being totally honest and losing trust and that kind of betrayal - I think like heartbreak is wild. It's awful and especially someone that you're so madly in love with and that they can hurt you," she said.
Therapy helped save the relationship
Pinnock, who has been with Gray since 2016 and shares three children with him, said the couple married in 2023 while he was playing for Al-Riyadh. She revealed that Gray eventually realised he was being "selfish" and went to therapy to change his behaviour.
"I think that person has to want to change and he did. And I think you can go through things in relationship, but if they aren't willing to change for you, forget it," she continued. "They have to do the work and they have to turn it around because again it's not you, it's not on you. He went to therapy and I think for us what really helped for us."
Pinnock prepares for Celebrity Traitors challenge
Now Pinnock is taking on a new challenge as she enters the Scottish castle for Celebrity Traitors, alongside celebrities including Michael Sheen and Maya Jama. The show will see 21 celebrities split into 'faithful' and 'traitor' as they try to identify who is deceiving the group.
Before arriving, Pinnock sought advice from former Celebrity Traitors contestant Cat Burns, who told her to stay calm during the intense Round Table moments. "Cat Burns was so calm. She's my inspiration for this. I actually spoke to her as well before coming in. I love her. She had good advice, she said it might get intense around that Round Table – but remember, it's just a game," Pinnock revealed.
