Michael Adam Hutchinson-Rogers, known to all as Mikey, was unexpectedly lost to this world on the 4th September 2026, aged 15 years. The youngest of four children to Colin and Anna, Mikey was deeply loved by siblings Luke, Sam and Christina. His funeral service will be held at Bangor Cathedral on Saturday 26th September at 10am, with his procession leaving Llanfairfechan at 9.15am. Following the service, his burial will be at Rhandir Hedd Cemetery, Aber Road, Llanfairfechan.
Elizabeth Lilian Algieri, known as Betty Pandy, died peacefully at The Old Convent Care Home on 9th September 2026, aged 100. Formerly of Plas Iwrwg, Maenan, she was the beloved wife of the late Vincenzo and devoted mother of Domenico, Lucia, Mario, Aldo, Pierino, Nino, Fausto, Camilla and Silvio. Her public funeral will be held on Wednesday 30th September 2026 at Colwyn Bay Crematorium at 11.00am. Mrs Terry Bayliss, formerly of London Terrace, Cwmavon, Port Talbot, passed away peacefully on Tuesday 8th September 2026, aged 105 years. Her funeral service will take place on Monday 28th September 2026 at Margam Crematorium at 12.00 noon.
Remembering teachers, sportsmen and community figures
Keith Allanson passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, 7th September 2026, aged 88, at Belong Care Home, Chester. Born in Lancashire, Keith survived the Freckleton Air Disaster at the age of six. He studied Chemistry at Edinburgh University, becoming a lecturer, first in Barnstaple, North Devon, and then in North Wales at what became NEWI. He later became Director of the Distance Learning Programme at NEWI from 1989-1992 and retired in 1993. Fishing was Keith's greatest passion, taking him across the UK and as far afield as British Columbia and New Zealand. After retiring, he became dedicated to protecting the rivers of the region, working for many years with the Dee Fisheries Committee. His funeral will take place at Chester Crematorium on Friday 2nd October 2026 at 2.40pm.
Brian Whittingham, a retired teacher at Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan, Abergele for 30 years, passed away suddenly on September 9th 2026, aged 94 years, of Bryn y Mor Road, Rhos on Sea. His service will be at St. Trillo's Church Rhos on Sea on Friday October 2nd at 1.00pm. Richard Paul Whitham, a teacher at Ysgol John Bright, Llandudno, passed away suddenly but peacefully on 9th September 2026 at Glan Clwyd Hospital, of Rhyl, formerly of Wrexham, aged 47 years. His funeral service will be at St Giles Parish Church, Wrexham on Tuesday, 6th October 2026 at 11:45 am.
Donations and funeral arrangements
Many families have requested donations in lieu of flowers to charities including Diabetes UK, Cancer Research, the British Heart Foundation, the RNLI, Ty Hafan, and Wales Air Ambulance. For example, donations in memory of Betty Algieri will be gratefully received towards Diabetes UK and Cancer Research, while donations in Keith Allanson's memory are requested for the RNLI. Several notices also request mourners to wear specific colours, such as a touch of Royal Blue for Sean Coughlan in appreciation of his love of Chelsea football club, or bright and colourful clothing for Lord Logan James Jones, age 11, who gained his angel wings at home on 1 September 2026.
