Alex Kerr, the Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for Hamilton, Larkhall, and Stonehouse, has selected Terry Paterson as his 'Local Hero' to attend the ceremonial opening of the Scottish Parliament on Saturday, June 27. Terry Paterson was chosen for her tireless dedication and profound impact on residents across Larkhall and the surrounding areas. For over a decade, she has been a driving force for positive change. In 2010, she established Larkhall Community Growers, a non-profit organization that has expanded under her leadership into a vital network of local groups providing essential, ongoing support to the community.

Beyond the Growers, Terry plays a pivotal role in the Larkhall Plan Partnership, which currently comprises nine organizations. The partnership aims to bring the voices of Larkhall residents directly to decision-makers, ensuring community input is heard, valued, and acted upon. It strives to empower residents and foster local pride for everyone who lives and works in the area.

Mr Kerr said: “Terry Paterson is a stalwart community activist who, alongside Nancy Barr, forms an incredible duo dedicated to our town.
