New data from Dogs Trust shows that more dog owners name their pets after Princess Catherine and Prince William's children than after Catherine herself. The 2026 National Survey, which included responses from more than 180,000 dog lovers, revealed that only seven dogs are named Kate and none are named Catherine.
George Leads Royal Dog Names
George proved the most popular royal dog name, with 534 dogs named after the second-in-line to the throne. Louis followed with 194 dogs, while just 18 canines were called Charlotte. Prince William also outranked his wife among royal-inspired pet names, with 48 dogs named William.
Wales Family's Own Dogs
The Prince and Princess of Wales, who are dog lovers, are currently owners of Otto and Orla. Prince William once revealed to Irish actress Louisa Harland that their dog sleeps with them at night. Harland shared on Hits Radio Cornwall: "[Prince William] said that his little dog sleeps on the bed with them at night, with him and Kate."
