Kat vows justice in EastEnders as police deliver update on Zoe's death
Kat vows justice in EastEnders as police update on Zoe's death

Kat Moon's (Jessie Wallace) quest to uncover the truth about her daughter Zoe Slater's (Michelle Ryan) final hours continues next week in EastEnders, but a police update delivers a major setback.

Zoe died last month after sustaining a head injury in a scuffle with a man who was selling her beloved grandad Charlie Slater's (Derek Martin) cab. The knock to her skull ultimately killed her in the days that followed.

Zoe's final moments

As Zoe succumbed to her injury, she headed downstairs and found her ex-fling Max Branning (Jake Wood) in the arms of Linda Carter (Kellie Bright). Though Zoe begged Max for help, he dismissed her, believing she was just drunk, ultimately leaving her to die alone.

In the aftermath of Zoe's death, Kat learned that Zoe had placed an incoherent 999 call. While most of what she said wasn't audible, one line in particular stood out: 'he left me'.

Knowing now that someone denied Zoe help in her moment of need and could have perhaps saved her from her tragic fate, Kat is laser-focused on finding out who 'left' Zoe and making them pay for their actions.

Kat's grief and fury

This week has seen Kat remain consumed by grief and fury. Despite her family's best attempts to get through to her, she's been unable to connect with any of them. Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) attempted to soothe Kat by bringing her some flowers that reminded her of Zoe, though this just seemed to pain Kat even more.

Kat then hit the bottle hard and fell into the arms of her ex Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), who tried to comfort her and get her to let her family in. Heading home, Kat remained in scorched earth mode and instigated an almighty clash with husband Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), which ultimately saw a devastated Kat head to Epping Forest.

Police update

Phil stepped in again, this time to encourage Alfie to find his wife and put things right. When she called him, utterly broken, he went straight to her, taking his unconscious wife to safety, before vowing to help her find out exactly what happened to Zoe in her final moments, and spill the blood of the man who left her alone.

Next week sees Kat's determination renewed, and she sets her sights on the man who was selling Charlie's cab. Tracking him down alongside Alfie, the Moons are disappointed when they learn that he's already been interrogated by the police and cleared of any involvement in Zoe's death.

As Jasmine begins to worry about Kat's behaviour and turns to Alfie for help, Kat's resolve has never been stronger and she makes a solid vow: she will get justice for her daughter… and God help Max when she does!
