South Shields pop star JADE will be honoured with a party in Newcastle on Friday, October 16, just days before she finds out if she has won the 2026 Mercury Music Prize. The event, hosted by Freight Island in conjunction with RADGE magazine, is titled 'JADE: Radgie of My Dreams' and will celebrate the singer's debut album That's Showbiz Baby!.
The album is on the shortlist for the 2026 Mercury Prize, alongside works by Olivia Dean, RAYE, Dave and Suede. The winner will be announced at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle on Thursday, October 22, where the trophy is being handed out for the second year in a row. Last year's winner was Sam Fender.
Celebration details and ticket information
The event at Freight Island will feature a JADE-themed pub quiz, an album listening party for That's Showbiz Baby!, cocktails, drag performances and "plenty of radgie nonsense". JADE will not attend in person but has recorded an exclusive video message for RADGE, which will be played to the crowd before the quiz and listening party.
Tickets for the event are on sale now, priced at £11.27, and are expected to be in high demand.
Background on JADE's solo career
JADE, formerly of Little Mix, was the last member of the group to release solo material. Her debut single 'Angel of My Dreams' was widely praised, and her album That's Showbiz Baby!, released in autumn 2025, includes tracks such as 'It Girl', 'Plastic Box', 'FUFN' and 'Self Saboteur'.
