The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly “eyeing up” work with major UK broadcasters ahead of their move back to the UK, sources have said. It was revealed last week that the couple are set to relocate to Britain by the end of August, with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, enrolled to start at British schools next month.
Private residence and non-royal status
Reports claim that the couple have found a private, non-royal residence to call home. It has also been confirmed that Harry and Meghan, who left Britain in 2020 after quitting royal duty, won’t become working royals again. This means that the couple will need to continue finding their own work and making their own income.
While it has been rumoured Meghan has secured a UK-based acting job, it has now also been claimed that the couple have been looking at working with British broadcasters. The couple are reportedly looking at ways they can generate an income from TV projects, as reported by RadarOnline.com.
TV industry sources on broadcasters
A TV industry source told the publication: "Harry and Meghan aren't abandoning America, but being based in Britain again opens an entirely different marketplace. There are conversations to be had with British broadcasters, including the BBC and major commercial networks, about documentaries, factual programming and projects where their names can still command significant attention."
"Meghan and Harry are especially eyeing the BBC as a potential source of a new cash flow when they move back to Britain."
Another industry source told RadarOnline: "The attraction of British television is that Harry and Meghan would not necessarily need another enormous exclusive streaming contract. Individual projects could potentially be developed with different broadcasters, allowing them to generate revenue while keeping far greater flexibility over what they make and where it appears."
Homes and family plans
While Harry and Meghan will be relocating to the UK for what has been described as an “extended period of time”, it is believed they will keep hold of their Montecito mansion in California. The couple will also keep their Portugal holiday home, which they last visited this summer.
The family will bring their two dogs Pula and Mamma Mia with them to Britain, but their other animals - including their chickens - are set to stay in America where they will be looked after by staff. The Daily Express has contacted a representative for Harry and Meghan about the claims they are eyeing up TV broadcasters.
