Good Morning Britain journalist Lois Swinnerton is stepping back from the programme for a few months to focus on her personal life. The presenter, who also appears on ITV News Central, shared the news with followers on Instagram.
Taking time off for a new adventure
Posting a photo from inside the ITV studios, Lois wrote: "Saying bye for now! It's my last few days waking you up on Good Morning Britain in the Midlands for a little while. From next week, I'm switching off the 4am alarm and taking a few months off for a new adventure in my personal life!"
She added: "While I'm away, you'll be in the hands of the fantastic Nitya Rajan! @nityagrajan. I look forward to seeing you all again on @itvcentral next year. Until then, À bientôt!"
Fans and colleagues react
While Lois has yet to reveal details about her "adventure," a comment from BBC journalist Monika Kaur Plaha hinted at a possible city break. "Bon voyage, darling, see you in Paris!" Monika replied.
Fans also shared their support. "Have the best time away!" responded one. "Have a great time, will miss you on Central News," added a second. "Good luck," mused a third.
Recent ITV departures
Lois' temporary departure comes weeks after two other ITV journalists, Antoine Allen and Shehab Khan, confirmed they were leaving. Posting on X, Antoine revealed he had left the broadcaster to join Al Jazeera English.
"I left the UK weeks ago, but I assume this video didn't reach many of my followers," he tweeted. "Unless you die, there's no one to tell viewers you've left. Thank you to everyone who appreciated my time at ITV News. I'll be wearing a suit a lot less, but giving a voice to the voiceless a lot more."
As for Shehab, the ITV News star issued an emotional message in July: "After seven incredible years, my time at ITV News has officially come to an end. It's hard to put into words what this chapter has meant to me. I've had the most incredible experiences and made the most amazing friends."
He added: "I leave full of gratitude for the opportunities, the lessons and the experiences. ITV News has shaped me in ways I never imagined when I first walked through the door seven years ago, and I'll always be proud to have been part of it. As one chapter closes, another begins. I'm incredibly excited about what's next and can't wait to share it with you all next week. Stay tuned."
