Good Morning Britain presenter Lois Swinnerton has announced she is taking a break from the ITV programme. The newsreader shared the update on social media, saying she will be away from the show for a few months.
Lois usually presents regional news, travel and weather updates from the Midlands on Good Morning Britain. She joined the Midlands presenting team for the show in 2023.

In her social media update, Lois said: “Saying bye for now! It’s my last few days waking you up on Good Morning Britain in the Midlands for a little while.
“From next week I’m switching off the 4am alarm and taking a few months off for a new adventure in my personal life! I look forward to seeing you all again on ITV Central next year. Until then À bientôt!”
Career background
The Stafford-born TV star previously started her career in Birmingham at Big Centre TV. Announcing her move to the Midlands presenting team at the time, she said: “Having grown up in Staffordshire, I am thrilled to be back home in the Midlands after spending seven years working away in various parts of the UK.
“As ITV Central's early presenter, I'll be setting my alarm nice and early to share the latest headlines from across the region as you're waking up. I am looking forward to reporting on all of the big news stories from across the Midlands, while also sharing with you those lighter stories that make us smile, and make us proud of the wonderful area that we call home.
“Away from the newsroom, my biggest passions are travelling and the great outdoors. I'm particularly excited to rediscover some of the beautiful countryside the Midlands has to offer.”
Head of news Liz Hannam said: “We’re delighted to have Lois on the team. She’s a sharp journalist with a real understanding of what makes a Midlands audience tick. She’s a great fit for the ITV News Central presenting team and I’m sure will be a great hit with the morning audiences.”
Presenter updates
While Lois announced her break, presenter Adil Ray recently celebrated his return to the show. He wrote on social media: “Some news! Yes I have not been on in a while but glad to be on a little over the coming weeks, on what remains one the most important shows on UK television, during the most important of times.
“Being one of the only (if not the only) Muslims to host a major news show in mainstream peak daytime. So many others have left the traditional outlets, so I am fortunate and grateful of the continued opportunity.
“And of course I aim to reflect us all, especially the Villa fans. Thank you for supporting me everyone, and I hope you will join us @gmb next Thursday.”
Fans showered him in support, with one writing: “Yay! Happy to see you back Adil.” “Can’t wait,” another wrote, as a third said: “Nice one, Adil x.”
