Steven Gerrard will return to Anfield on Saturday as part of TNT Sports' coverage of Liverpool's Premier League match against Nottingham Forest. The Reds host Oliver Glasner's side in their first home game of the season, with the former Liverpool captain in attendance to cover the match for the broadcaster.
Gerrard's increased role as a pundit and co-commentator for TNT Sports was announced earlier this month, following a part-time role with them last season. The weekend's clash will be his first top-flight game of the campaign after he was on duty for Arsenal's 3-0 win over Manchester City in the Community Shield.
Expanded role with TNT Sports
The ex-England skipper's increased role with TNT will see him lead coverage of the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup. Gerrard, 46, returned to punditry last year after leaving Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq.
The opportunity to return to management arose with former club Rangers, but he turned it down after holding talks with the Scottish giants. Explaining his decision to remain outside the coaching world, Gerrard told TNT Sports last season: "Who knows? You never shut the door, I'm enjoying the work-life balance, coaching is tough, it's challenging."
Focus on family and punditry
"I've had some real big opportunities and enjoyed a lot of it. At the moment, family time, TNT, doing bits what I do, travelling, I'm enjoying it. I'm really happy at the moment, getting a lot of time with my kids which I've missed whilst I have been coaching so at the moment, I would say maybe (return to management)."
Gerrard will hope to witness his former side clinch their first victory of the season, following their 2-2 draw with Newcastle United last Sunday. The Reds snatched a point at St James' Park through Dominik Szoboszlai's last-gasp penalty, but failed to impress for large parts of the action in the North East.
Transfer window update
The September 1 deadline for the transfer window is quickly approaching, with Andoni Iraola's side close to bolstering their squad quality by coming to an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain over Bradley Barcola. The ECHO understands the deal is not finalised with work still needing to be done before the transfer is completed. Barcola has since been omitted from PSG's squad for their clash against Lille on Friday.
