Sam Fender and Olivia Dean have set a new all-time world record as their duet Rein Me In stays at number 1 in the UK for another week. The track has now surpassed the 22 weeks that Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas has spent at number 1 on the US Billboard charts, a record previously held by the festive classic.
From solo track to chart-topping duet
Rein Me In originally began as a solo track on Sam's third chart-topping album People Watching. After fans saw the pair perform the song together at the London Stadium last summer, demand grew for a duet version, which was released and stormed the top 10 upon arrival.
While the song saw success in 2025, it has reached new heights in recent months. It won Song of the Year at the Brit Awards and has climbed to number 1 on several occasions. At the end of July, it surpassed a 73-year-old record held by Frankie Laine's I Believe, and last weekend it equalled the 22 weeks All I Want for Christmas has spent at number 1 in the US Billboard charts.
New world record confirmed
The new record was confirmed with the reveal of this week's top 40, which sees Rein Me In lead the way once again, with Hugel's Movin' to the Sun in second place.
Following the death of Dolly Parton earlier in the week, there has been a surge of new entries from her classics in the charts this week. Jolene is the highest of them at number 9, followed by 9 to 5 at 12, which is in the top 40 for the first time ever, with Islands of Stream just behind at 13.
