Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) has given birth to a little boy after the wedding marquee explosion in Emmerdale, following the chaos that saw partner Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) feared dead.
The explosion came after Dawn had decided to leave the village with Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) and their children, believing Joe was the person who attacked Billy and put him in hospital. Billy, however, kept quiet about who really knocked him out, desperate to get his happy ending with Dawn.
Earlier that day, Dawn had endured a showdown with Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough), who questioned how Billy knew Joe attacked him if the hit happened from behind. That ultimately stopped Dawn from running away with Billy. She confronted him at the side of the road and discovered that Joe was, for once, totally innocent.
Dawn races back to the village
Dawn raced back to the village and asked Joe if he would still marry her. Stood in her wedding dress in the marquee, she was hoping for another chance – but disaster struck. Jimmy King (Nick Miles) crashed his car right through the tent, knocking him, Dawn and Joe all unconscious.
Jimmy died as a result of his injuries and, for a while, it looked like Joe was going to die as well. The marquee exploded with Joe inside, but today’s episode of the ITV soap revealed that he – miraculously – survived.
Birth and a fresh start
Joe and Dawn were both rushed to hospital, with Dawn eventually going into early labour as a result of what she went through in the crash. She gave birth to a little boy.
Even though her plot with Billy had damaged her relationships with Joe, Graham and Kim Tate (Claire King), they all seemed ready to give Dawn another chance. ‘A fresh start’, Dawn said.
But is it? With reports indicating that Olivia Bromley is leaving the soap, is another twist on the way?
