Kit Green is given a heartbreaking health diagnosis in next week's Coronation Street, while Jodie Ramsey's scheming takes a shocking turn and Betsy Swain suffers a terrifying scare.
Kit's cancer diagnosis
As the week begins, someone sneaks out of the flat, past a sleeping Kit on the sofa. Kit opens his eyes and stares at a photo of him and Sarah Platt, awash with guilt.
Later, Kit attends an appointment with a consultant who confirms he has stage three breast cancer, and it has spread to his lymph nodes.
After receiving the news, Kit calls at the Rovers to find Debbie Webster's birthday celebrations in full swing. Pasting on a smile, he announces he's ready to party, knocking back drinks as his mum, Bernie Winter-Alahan, watches on with concern.
Debbie's birthday and Todd's concern
Debbie makes a heartfelt speech, thanking her family and friends for their support. When she offers special thanks to her husband, Ronnie Bailey, and declares him the love of her life, Kit listens, overcome by his own emotions. Todd finds Kit in the backyard and asks what's eating him up.
Concerns grow for Kit when he accidentally collides with Ross Wilkes in the pub, spilling his drinks. When Kit clutches his chest in pain, Ross accuses him of overreacting, but Kit loses his temper.
Kit confides in Todd that he has an appointment for a CT scan today. Todd puts pressure on Kit to share his health worries with his family.
Jodie's scheme unravels
Elsewhere, Shona Platt is emotional as her husband, David, returns home. Over lunch, he assures Shona she's a brilliant mum and that, from now on, they'll share the strain.
Jodie Ramsey listens to a voice message from Kit explaining he doesn't want to see her again. Masking her anger, Jodie heads out. Having let herself into Sarah's flat, Jodie snoops around but hides when she hears Kit and Bethany. Spotting Harry's height record chalked on the wall, Jodie rubs some off. But what she overhears next floors her.
Later, when Jodie heads for a manicure, Bethany is unnerved and only more suspicious when Jodie reveals she's booked a visit with Sarah.
In the prison visiting room, Jodie tells Sarah she's sorry for attacking her, and there's something she should know. Concerned, Bethany visits Sarah with trepidation. Later, Bethany calls at No.8 to have it out with Jodie, but they're distracted to discover Jodie's dad at the door.
In the cafe, one of the mums from the baby group mistakes Jodie for Shona. Jodie happily plays along, but when a confused Doug arrives, Jodie gives him a spurious excuse.
Shona is stunned to come face-to-face with her dad, who explains he's back on his meds, has his bipolar disorder under control, and would like to mend their broken relationship. Jodie spells out to Doug that he'd better not rock the boat, but when Jodie casts a longing look at David, Doug watches, disturbed.
Lucy's schemes and Betsy's scare
Tim Metcalfe is shocked when Lucy Parkinson announces she doesn't want to attend her mum's funeral. But she has a change of heart, and later admits she's disappointed her dad, Richie, wasn't there, as that was the only reason she went.
Lucy slips Shanice Michaelis some money and urges her to go to the Kabin and buy sweets. When Shanice points out she's not allowed out on her own, Lucy assures her she won't tell. But Brian Packham arrives back with Shanice, explaining to Sally Metcalfe how she called in the Kabin by herself. Sally suspects Lucy was behind it, but Lucy has more up her sleeve.
Dylan Wilson visits Betsy Swain and tells her he couldn't feel any worse about what happened. Meanwhile, Sally shows Carla Connor-Swain a website for a fashion course at a local college, which might suit Betsy. Carla's touched and vows to look into it.
Later, Carla agrees to help Betsy with her application for the fashion course. Lisa's pleased to see Betsy so energised. Betsy's delighted when Bethany arrives to give her a manicure to cheer her up, all thanks to Ryan Connor. But suddenly, Betsy clutches her head in pain, fearing she's having another stroke.
