Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) is putting the final stages of her plan to steal her half-sister Shona's (Julia Goulding) life into action on Coronation Street. The plan involves secretly sabotaging Shona so she looks like an unfit mother, and Jodie is prepared to go as low as endangering baby Harper by pouring boiling water into her bath tub.
Once Shona is ousted, Jodie believes she can step into her sister's shoes and take her place in the family, as mother to Harper and Lily (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner) and partner to Shona's husband David (Jack P Shepherd). The only thing standing in her way, other than David having no interest in her, is her dad Doug (Steve Evets).
Doug's medication tampered with
Doug's mental health struggles made the Ramsey household an unstable place to grow up, prompting teenage mum Shona to leave. This caused Jodie to feel abandoned and kicked off her revenge scheme. Terrified of Jodie, Doug sees right through her and is desperate to stop her from harming Shona, so Jodie tampers with his bipolar medication in tomorrow's episode.
This has a cataclysmic knock-on effect into next week's episodes, culminating in an intense final showdown between the sisters. When Jodie calls Doug's doctor and accuses him of being a danger to the family, the mental health team arrives to assess him. Shona tearfully tells her dad how sorry she is as he is led away, warning his daughter to watch her back with Jodie.
Bethany catches Jodie red-handed
Although Doug is taken care of, Jodie still has to worry about Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon). The two haven't been besties since it came to light that Jodie assaulted Bethany's mum Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) and kept it quiet for weeks. Jodie also has a recording of Bethany confessing to sleeping with her mother's ex-boyfriend Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), who Jodie fancied. When Bethany catches Jodie red-handed, Jodie already has a scheme to shut her enemy down.
Later, Shona confides in Bethany that she fears she's losing her mind, as she often hears Harper crying when she isn't even in the room. As Jodie returns home with Shona's birthday cake, she finds Shona frantically searching the living room. Shona explains she heard the crying again, but it sounded like a recording. As David and Jodie set about decorating the bistro for Shona's birthday party, Lily arrives, and when Lily's phone is plugged into the docking station, the room is filled with the sound of Harper crying.
Final showdown and a gunshot
Recriminations fly as Shona accuses Lily of recording Harper's crying in a bid to convince her she was going mad. Upset, Lily swears she has no idea how Harper's crying ended up on her phone and flees the party. The moment Corrie fans have been waiting for finally arrives in a flashforward, showing No.8 looking like a bomb's hit it, with belongings strewn across the living room and a paramedic tending to a casualty on the floor.
The feud between Shona and Jodie reaches its breaking point, secrets are exposed, a gun is fired, and someone takes a bullet.
