Coronation Street is set for a dramatic showdown as Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) pulls out a gun on his uncle Kevin (Michael Le Vell). The tension has been building for months, and next week's episodes will see the feud reach a deadly climax.
Carl's dark past catches up with him
Carl has committed a string of despicable acts, from seducing Kevin's wife Abi (Sally Carman-Duttine) to causing a hit-and-run that left Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) in a wheelchair. He also manipulated his mother Debbie (Sue Devaney) out of her money while she suffered from dementia. Most devastatingly, Carl drunkenly caused a multi-car pileup that killed Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) and let Debbie take the blame, worsening her condition.
Despite all this, Debbie had always given Carl the benefit of the doubt. But after his selfish behaviour took a toll on her health, she finally gave him two thousand pounds to leave her life forever. Kevin, however, stole the money back and sent Carl a taunting selfie. Enraged, Carl snuck into the garage to sabotage Kevin's car, but the plan backfired when a car fell on him, injuring him.
Carl's fake redemption
Since the accident, Carl has pretended to reform, but his need for cash makes him easy prey for dodgy car dealer Fiona Morley (Sara Poyzer). He previously helped her unload stolen motors through Kevin's garage. When Kevin and Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) tried to pin the operation on Carl, Fiona confessed everything. Now she's back, tempting Carl back into crime.
In next week's episodes, Kevin discovers a gun in the garage and, while watching a video on Tyrone's phone, accidentally sees footage of Carl sabotaging his car. Furious, Kevin confronts Carl, and Ronnie and Tyrone rush over. Kevin refuses to bury the hatchet and advances on Carl with a wrench.
The gun is pulled
Carl then pulls out a package from Fiona, revealing a gun. Kevin, convinced it's fake, picks it up and aims it at Carl. Ronnie tries to wrestle it away, and the gun goes off. The episode ends with everyone reacting in horror, leaving viewers to wonder if the bullet found its target.
Will Kevin or Carl be shot? Or will someone else be caught in the crossfire? Coronation Street airs these explosive scenes next week on ITV.
