Brookside star Philip Olivier married his long-term partner Amy Virtue on board the Royal Daffodil in Liverpool on Saturday, July 4, 2026. The soap star owns the historic vessel and became the first person to hold a wedding ceremony on the boat.
Star-Studded Celebration
The wedding was attended by several of Olivier's celebrity friends, including his former Brookside co-star Jennifer Ellison and her husband Rob Tickle. Ellison described it as the "best day ever" in a social media post, adding: "We honestly had the best day ever, celebrating our gorgeous friends Phil and Amy’s wedding! Everything was perfect from start to finish."
Another Brookside star, Louis Emerick, was also present, sharing a photo with brothers Ryan, Adam, and Scott Thomas. Ryan Thomas, a close friend of Olivier, had previously spoken about the venue in an exclusive interview with the ECHO at the Grand National in April, saying: "My best friend has got the boat on the docks [the Royal Daffodil]. Liverpool is about the warmth and the culture."
First Wedding on the Daffodil
The Daffodil's official Instagram page shared a glimpse of the special day, showing the couple against the backdrop of the Liver Building. The post read: "Congratulations to our very own Mr & Mrs Olivier! Our first official marriage on board Daffodil, a day to remember! Just good vibes from start to finish."
Snaps from the ceremony showed Amy and Philip with their five children before the event, while later clips captured the party in full swing.
Jennifer Ellison on the Wedding
Ellison, known for playing Emily Shadwick in Brookside—who had an on-screen romance with Olivier's character Tinhead—joked about her character's reaction. Speaking exclusively to the ECHO at the gala night for Moulin Rouge, she said: "She was fuming! But she turned on the telly the other day and he was in Hollyoaks with my sister so I was like what's going on?"
Ellison also mentioned the wedding had been part of a busy period: "I've had the craziest few months, I've been promoting G'wed, I've had the reunion party, I had Tinhead's wedding on Saturday which I'm still recovering from."
