With final preparations in place for the Blaydon Race this Monday evening, runners are counting down to the moment they gather at the Newcastle start line. As previously reported, road closures have been confirmed for the annual event, along with full details of timings, the route, and even the Geordie Supper awaiting finishers once they cross the line in Blaydon.
No matter how prepared runners are for tackling the 5.9-mile Newcastle to Gateshead route, the one uncertainty for any event is always the weather. Organisers, participants, and spectators alike will be keeping a close eye on the June 9 forecast.

This is the latest forecast from the Met Office, covering a few hours before the 7.15pm start time on Newcastle Quayside. Later predictions for Blaydon and surrounding areas towards the end of the event are also included for those who might want to stay out and celebrate their achievements.
Overall, conditions are set to be cool, with Blaydon being just a degree lower at times, featuring a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers. This will suit some but perhaps not everyone.
