Sada Walkington, the Edinburgh-born contestant who became the first person ever evicted from the Big Brother house, has traded reality TV for a life as a yoga instructor in Argentina under the name Guru Amrit Dev.
More than two decades after making reality TV history, Sada's life is worlds away from the show. The first season of Big Brother aired in 2000, with 11 contestants volunteering for the social experiment. Unlike today's housemates, who grew up watching the programme, the original cast had no idea what they were letting themselves in for.
First eviction in Big Brother history
Season one star Nick Bateman has previously said there was an "innocence" about the original contestants that has since disappeared from the show. The cast included first-ever winner Craig Phillips, television presenter Anna Nolan, and Edinburgh-born Sada.
Sada was 28 when she entered the house and was one of the quieter personalities, providing a contrast to some of the louder housemates. Her time on the show lasted just 15 days, receiving six nominations before becoming the first housemate to be evicted.
Life after the house
Following her departure, Sada began dating fellow contestant Nichola Holt. According to the Irish Examiner, the pair fell in love after Nichola comforted Sada following a break-up with her then-boyfriend.
Reflecting on their relationship at the time, Sada told a tabloid: "It's still a bit of a shock to me, until now I've only ever had relationships with men, but I'm so happy. We love and adore each other." She added: "We've only been together properly for a month, but we're both very serious about this." The couple later went their separate ways.
A new name and a new country
Sada didn't remain in the limelight for long, despite being offered further television work following her eviction. In a Big Brother interview, she revealed she had been approached about several projects: "I've had loads of offers. The producers of Ali G, who are making another show, want me to do an agony aunt thing. But that's just not where I'm headed. So there's been offers like that."
Instead, Sada eventually moved to Argentina, where she became a yoga instructor. She adopted the name Guru Amrit Dev and married Argentine musician Sat Man Swaraj. The couple went on to have twins, Indigo and Padma, who were born in 2005.
